PHOTOGRAPHY

"When you truly see, you realize the actual artistry of photography isn’t in the shutter, or the lens, or even the final image, it’s in the choices you make before the camera rises."
Bio
Jared Thomas Tapy (b.2000) is a New York City street and documentary photographer whose work is defined by its commitment to attention, honesty, and the lived experience of the city. Moving fluidly between large-scale public events and quiet, unassuming moments, his photographs resist spectacle in favor of something more enduring. Gestures, relationships, and fragments of everyday life that reveal a deeper human narrative.
Working primarily with film, Tapy approaches photography as both a discipline and a form of inquiry. His process is grounded in patience, repetition, and a deep respect for the traditions of documentary image-making, drawing influence from the photographers and movements that shaped the medium. Through long-form projects such as Souls in an Urban Landscape and Unveiling Savannah’s Shadows, he builds visual narratives that examine place, identity, and the emotional weight carried within public spaces.
